Tramadol Hydrochloride

 

Brand names - Ultram.

Medication type - Analgesic.

Common side effects - Dizziness, vertigo, headache, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, constipation.

Rare side effects - Weakness, lack of energy, anxiety, confusion, euphoria, nervousness, insomnia, visual disturbances, stomach upset, dry mouth, diarrhea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, gas, meno-pausal symptoms, sweating, muscle spasm, rash

Serious side effects - Blurred vision, difficulty urinating, frequent urge to urinate, blisters under the skin, change in walking balance, dizziness or lightheadedness when getting up, fainting, fast heartbeat, memory loss, hallucinations, shortness of breath. Also numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in hands or feet; redness, swelling, and itching of skin; trembling and shaking of hands or feet; trouble performing routine tasks. Call your doctor immediately

Uses - To help manage moderate to somewhat severe pain.

Other notes - Do not consume alcohol while taking this medication since it may compound the drugs sedative effect on the central nervous system. Tramadol has caused birth defects and other problems in animals. Human studies have not been done. Tramadol passes into breast milk; avoid or discontinue use while nursing. Before undergoing any kind of surgery, including dental surgery, be sure your doctor or dentist knows that you are taking tramadol.
